Letter to the editor
Re: Article in your latest Newsletter – Erven 380/381
The two erven referred to above has been lying dormant for the last 30 years,
and has been used by builders and other property owners to dump their rubble.
The two properties, belong, de-facto, to Bitou Municipality, as well as certain
other properties in Nature’s Valley.
By sub-dividing and selling these properties, the Municipality will, inter alia,
open them up for a cleaner, more environmental friendly purpose, generating
funds to be used for capital expenditure and utilize a dormant area for a better
purpose.
The selling of these properties will, as mentioned above, generate additional
income, (both capital and operational) that might alleviate the property owner’s
tax/tariff burden.
The disposing of unused and non-income producing properties by the Municipality
can only be beneficial to the rate payers of Nature’s Valley.
I strongly approve of the Municipality selling their “non-core” properties,
combined with the necessary building restrictions, to eventually benefit the
Valley.
The fact that the relevant erven are in the Forest Drive area, will prevent
houses being build as those in St Michaels
and St Andrews ( Gauteng Suburban
houses), and will in all probability fit in with the “image” that we treasure in
the Valley.
We have the Phyl Martin Park and the “Fynbos Reserve” as open areas, coupled
with the totality of The VASELOT Nature’s Reserve, around us- do we need more?
